The Asia Quarter winner had IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Thailand national team setter Punpun

Thailand’s national team Phonpun Gedpard was held in the arms of IBK Industrial Bank as the first choice in the first women’s professional volleyball Asia Quarter Draft.

The Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) held the ‘2023 KOVO Women’s Asian Quarter Draft’ held at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 21st.

This is the first time that a draft for Asian players has been conducted since the launch of professional volleyball. Seven teams randomly drew 10 marbles each, for a total of 70 marbles.

The first place was taken by IBK Industrial Bank of Korea. Director Kim Ho-cheol of IBK Industrial Bank of Korea nominated Thai national setter Phonpun without hesitation.

Phonpun is the main setter leading women’s volleyball in Thailand, and is a popular star player in Thailand. In the meantime, IBK Industrial Bank, which had a weak setter, was relieved of its worries by recruiting her Phonpun.

In a video interview, Punpun said, “Thank you for appointing me to the rank. I want to learn mental strength from Korean volleyball,” she said, expressing her determination.

“The setter knows that quick adaptation is important. I will work hard to practice and adapt to my team,” he said. “My strength is adaptability. I want to learn Korean quickly and get along with my new colleagues.”

The second place belonged to Hyundai E&C. Hyundai E&C nominated Thailand’s outside heater Wipawi Sitong. In this free agent (FA) player market, Hwang Min-kyung left for IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, and Hyundai E&C, which created a vacancy in the outside heater position, reinforced its position through the Asia Quarter.

Ginseng Corporation, which won the 3rd nomination right, nominated Indonesia’s apositive spiker, Megawati Puttywi, and Korea Expressway Corporation, in the 4th place, selected Thailand’s apositive spiker, Tanacha Sosuksot.

Pepper Savings Bank in the 5th place picked MJ Phillips, a middle blocker with dual citizenship in the Philippines and the United States, and GS Caltex in the 6th place selected Indonesian national team Apposite Spiker Medi Yoku. Heungkuk Life Insurance, ranked 7th in the last order, chose Japanese apogee spiker Reina Tokoku. 메이저놀이터

As a result, the nationality of Asian players in the V-League Women’s Division next season consisted of three Thais, two Indonesians, one Filipino, and one Japanese. 

The annual salary of the players selected in this Asian quarter tryout is $100,000 (approximately 132 million won) including tax for both men and women, and there is no limit to the number of renewal contracts.

The Men’s Asia Quarter Tryout will be held at Jeju Halla Gymnasium for 2 nights and 3 days from the 25th to the 27th.
