Saudi Arabia’s big star signing, next target is Son Heung-min… “2024 signing target”

The Saudi Arabian Professional League, which has been collecting star players, is targeting Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur).

Ben Jacobs, a reporter for CBS Sports Golasso in the United States, raised the speculation of Son Heung-Min’s move to the Saudi Pro League on Twitter on June 6 (local time). “The Saudis are targeting Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min,” he wrote, but not this summer, “in 2024, and it’s already in the works,” adding that the league has begun preliminary work to target Son next summer.

There is only one reason why the Saudi Pro League would want to pursue Son next summer. It’s his contract. When Son re-signed with Tottenham in 2021, he extended his contract until June 2025. Next summer will be the last year of his contract.

If Son does not sign an extension in the next year, Spurs will have to sell him next summer to recoup the transfer fee. Otherwise, he will be a free agent in the summer of 2025. 안전놀이터

When a player has less than a year left on his contract with a team, his price tag drops dramatically. The Saudi Pro League took advantage of that and set their sights on signing Son next summer.

The Saudi Pro League gained worldwide attention when it signed Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nasr) last December. Since then, the league has made big-money offers for stars like Lionel Messi, N’Golo Kante, and Hugo Lloris whose contracts have expired or are about to expire. Karim Benzema, whose contract with Real Madrid ends at the end of the month, has been linked with a move to Al Ittihad.

In reality, it’s extremely unlikely that Son Heung-min would accept an offer from the Saudi Pro League next summer. The point is, however, that the league is looking to become another centerpiece of world soccer with its vast financial resources.
