Twin sisters from Norway placed first and second respectively at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Cross Country World Cup.
Rota Woodnes Weng (27) was the first to cross the finish line at the 2022-2023 FIS Cross Country World Cup Women’s Sprint Final Classic held in Trentino, Italy on the 6th (local time), running a 1.2 km section in 3 minutes 06 seconds 04.
In second place is Rota’s twin sister, Tyrell Woodness Weng. The record was 3 minutes 06 seconds 39, a difference of 0.35 seconds from the first place. 스포츠토토
Rota, who won the World Cup for the first time as an individual, won one gold medal, four silver medals, and one bronze medal at the Cross Country Junior World Championships between 2014 and 2016.
Also in 2017, he won the 15km skiathlon at the World Under-23 Championship. He is the athlete who ranked 13th in the 30 km mass start at the Beijing Winter Olympics last year.
Tyril, identical twins, won one gold medal, one silver medal, and two bronze medals at the 2014-2016 Junior World Championships, and is the individual sprint winner at the 2018 Under-23 World Championship.
Also in 2021, he won the gold medal in the 20 km relay at the adult world championships and ranked 5th in the 20 km relay at the Beijing Winter Olympics last year.
On the first day of this year, he won his first World Cup victory at the FIS World Cup 10km Classic held in Switzerland.
It is like the twin sisters won their first World Cup championship in 2023 side by side.
In an interview published on the FIS Internet website, Rotta said, “I couldn’t believe Tyril and Mathilde were behind me.”
The third place on the day was also won by Norwegian athlete Mathilde Mirbolt.
The twin sisters aren’t the only famous cross-country runners in the Weng family.
The more famous Heidi Weng (32, Norway) is their cousin.
Heidi is a 15km skiathlon bronze medalist at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, winning 13 World Cup totals and winning the overall World Cup season championship in 2017 and 2018.
This season, Tyrril is running first overall in the women’s cross-country World Cup, and Rota is ninth.
Although Heidi has passed her prime, she is still showing her top-notch skills, such as finishing third in the 10km free race at the World Cup in Lillehammer, Norway last December.
