K League 2 Anyang wins 2-1 over 10-man Seongnam to take the lead

FC Anyang moved to the top of the standings with a come-from-behind win over 10-man Seongnam FC.

Anyang won 2-1 away from home in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 on Sunday at Tancheon Sports Complex in Seongnam.

With their second straight win, Anyang moved to the top of the standings (27 points) after dropping Gimpo FC (26 points).

However, Gimpo has played two fewer games than Anyang.

After six games, Seongnam is in seventh place (20 points).

Seongnam looked to have an easy time of it as Lee Jong-ho opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an assist from Jeong Jung-min.

However, the game changed in the 43rd minute when Seongnam midfielder Kris was sent off.

Kris tussled with Lee Chang-yong and fell, stepping on his chest, and the referee showed him a red card after a video assistant referee (VAR) review.

With the numerical advantage, Anyang tied the game in the 17th minute of the second half when Kim Dong-jin scored with a flying kick after a roving penetrating pass from Lee Chang-yong.

Then, in the 29th minute, Park Jae-yong trapped Cho Sung-joon’s pass with his right foot at the front of the goal area and finished with a left-footed shot for the final score.

At Cheongju Stadium, Gyeongnam FC ended a four-match winless streak with a 2-0 victory over home team Chungbuk Cheongju.

With its first win since May, Gyeongnam sits in third place (24 points).

After going unbeaten in their opening nine matches (five wins and four draws), Gyeongnam had started to show signs of uneasiness with two draws and two losses since playing Seoul Eland earlier this month.

After three games (two wins, one draw), Chungbuk Cheongju sits in 11th place (13 points).

Gyeongnam took the lead through Gleason in the fourth minute of the first half.

Lee Jun-jae sent in a ground ball cross from the right side, and Gleason finished with a right-footed non-stop turning shot into the bottom left corner of the goal.

After being outnumbered and barely surviving the first half, Chungbuk Cheongju started the second half with strong forward pressure, rattling Gyeongnam around the waist and looking for an equalizer.

However, while Chungbuk Cheongju was unable to find an equalizer, Gyeongnam widened the gap in the 23rd minute of the second half with Mo Jae-hyun’s ‘one shot’.

Mo received a forward pass from Park Min-seo and rattled the net with a right-footed shot from the front of the goal area.

It was the first shot Gyeongnam attempted in the second half.

At the Gwangyang Football Stadium, home team Jeonnam Dragons defeated Cheonan City FC 2-0 thanks to an early goal from Plana, which was recorded as the second-fastest goal in K League 2 history.

Plana scored with his left foot from a cross from the left by Valdivia just 18 seconds after kickoff.

This is the second fastest goal in K League 2, behind Shim Dong-woon’s 17-second goal on April 25, 2021, while playing for FC Anyang. 안전놀이터

It is tied for fifth in the entire K League.

After defending the lead created by Planar, Jeonnam won comfortably in the 28th minute of the second half when Choo Sang-hoon scored a powerful goal from the right side of the goal area.

Jeonnam moved up to eighth place (17 points), while Cheonan, who failed to win again this season, remained in last place (1 point).
