“My wife is pregnant, and I think she’ll like it a lot.”

Bucheon FC 1995 defender Park Hyung-jin, 33, came on as a second-half substitute against Gimpo FC in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at Bucheon Sports Complex on Sept. 29 and scored a goal in the 40th minute to drive a wedge into his team’s 2-0 victory.

Park, who joined Bucheon from Suwon Samseong ahead of the season, scored his debut goal for Bucheon after just 12 league games. Park’s goal helped Bucheon move from sixth to fourth place in the standings, ending Gimpo’s unbeaten run in the league.

“I’m glad we got the three points,” said Park Hyung-jin after the game. It’s even more valuable because it came against Gimpo, who were unbeaten,” he laughed.
After scoring the goal, Park put the ball inside his jersey top and performed a ceremony with his teammates. Why did he put the ball inside his top?

“My wife is currently pregnant. She’s 20 weeks along. When I was pregnant with my first, I couldn’t do it, but with my second, I can. I think she’ll like it a lot. When I was pregnant with my first, I used to talk about how I wish I had scored a goal, so I’m glad I did. We had a family event at the club today, but my wife couldn’t come because she had a gynecological examination. Of course, I wish she could have come, but I think it’s okay because I did the ceremony,” he smiled.

Recalling the scene when he scored, Park said, “The opponent was pulled out and I saw space. (Choi) Jae-young gave me a smooth pass. If I had put it in right away, Jae-young would have gotten an assist, too, so I’m sorry. But I’m glad I scored,” he said.

Park played for Suwon Samseong in the K League 1 until last season. He moved to the K League 2 this season. Most managers and players say that the competition is tougher in the K League 2 than in the K League 1. Does Park feel the same way? 안전놀이터
“In terms of quality, it may not be as good as K League 1, but the mobility and tempo are completely different. I think that’s why I had a hard time adapting a little bit,” he said.

“That’s why I always try to be helpful. There are a lot of young players in the team, so as a veteran player, I feel like I need to be the center of attention. That’s what the coach asked me to do. I’ll do my best to take care of the younger players.”

“I don’t have any personal goals. I just want to help the team get promoted,” he concluded.
