Cho Kyu-sung scores on debut for Denmark…opening goal kicks off European challenge in style

Cho Kyu-sung scored the winning goal in his official debut in Denmark to lead Mittwilan to their first win of the season.

Mittwilan defeated Hvidørre 1-0 in the first round of the 2023-2024 Danish Superliga at the MCH Arena in Henning, Denmark on Wednesday (July 22).

In the 24th minute, Cho Kyu-sung missed a great scoring chance. Fellow striker Gustav Isaksen dribbled inside the penalty box and was blocked by the defense. Cho picked up the loose ball behind him and unleashed a left-footed shot that hit the top of the net.

In the 40th minute, Mitwillan was awarded a penalty kick. Isaksen stepped up to take the kick and his shot was centered. Hvidore goalkeeper Filip Dukic made the save.

In the 11th minute of the second half, Cho Kyu-sung scored his first goal in the Danish league. Mittwylan left-back Paulinho joined the attack following a pass from his teammate. He sent a cross into the box from just outside the left side of the penalty area, where Cho headed it into the back of the net.

Paulinho and Cho linked up again in the 21st minute of the second half. Paulinho’s cross was followed by Cho’s header, which this time went wide to the right of the goal.

Cho was substituted for Sori Kaba in the 28th minute of the second half. He had three shots in the final 73 minutes, one of which he converted for his first goal in Europe and the game-winner. He also made three key passes that led to teammates’ shots and had a wide-ranging impact on the team’s attack.

Cho’s multi-goal performance against Ghana in the second round of the Qatar 2022 World Cup group stage garnered him more attention at home and abroad before he traveled to Denmark in the middle of the month. After coming on as a substitute against FC Seoul on the 7th, he gave a final greeting to the Jeonbuk Hyundai fans to announce his move to Europe, before leaving the country on the 11th to finalize the signing process. 안전놀이터

Cho Kyu-sung, who suffered from injuries in the early part of the season, has improved his form before heading to Europe. After scoring four goals in six K League 1 games in June and July, he began to challenge the European stage. First, he showed confidence that he was in better shape than last winter, when speculation of a European transfer had been raised, and he started his Mittwillan career with a bang by scoring his debut goal.
