Deoksu High School reached the top of the national competition in two years.
Deoksu High School defeated Gangneung High School 5-4 in the 2023 Shinsegae E-Mart Cup National High School Baseball Championship final held at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 11th thanks to Bae Seung-soo’s finish in the 9th inning. Deoksu High School won the national championship in two years after winning the 2021 Bonghwangdaegi and Myeongmun High School Baseball Heat.
Deoksu High School’s starting pitcher Lee Jong-ho was replaced with 2 hits, 1 strikeout, 2 walks and 2 runs in 1⅓ innings, but the second pitcher Jung Hyun-woo threw 105 pitches and gave up 1 run in 6⅔ innings (no runs). Jeong Min-seo and Park Jun-soon each played an active role with two hits.
After one out in the bottom of the first inning, Jeong Min-seo was in scoring position with a hit and a stolen base, and Woo Jeong-an hit a timely hit with two outs on 1st and 2nd base, and Deoksu High scored first.
Gangneung High School counterattacked in the second inning. Lee Yul-ye’s hit and Jeon Hong-rok’s walk made it 1 out, 1st and 2nd base, and when Kim Do-yoon’s bunt hit, the pitcher threw a bad throw to second base, and Lee Yul-ye scored. Jeon Hong-rok scored a come-from-behind score when pinch hitter Jeong Jae-woo’s fielder selection in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd bases that followed.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, after Kim Jae-hyun’s walk, Deoksu High got a chance to run second and third base safely with a bad throw from Bae Seung-soo’s bunt. Lee Seon-woo’s RBI sacrifice fly tied the score at 2-2.
At the beginning of the 7th inning, Gangneung High School took a 2nd, 3rd base chance with two walks and an opponent error, but thanks to Lee Yong-hyun’s third baseman’s error, he took a 3-2 lead again. After one out in the bottom of the 8th inning, Deoksu High took the lead again with Jung Min-seo’s Jung-wol triple, Park Jun-soon’s timely hit to tie the score, and Baek Jun-seo’s come-from-behind Woo Joong-wol triple. 먹튀검증
After two outs in the top of the ninth in Gangneung High School, Jo Dae-hyeon’s hit and Lee Yul-ye’s walk created a chance for 2 outs and 1st and 2nd bases, and Lee Yong-hyeon hit a timely hit to tie the score. In the bottom of the ninth, Moon Seong-hyun walked and Kim Jae-hyeong hit to make the first and third bases safe, and while Bae Seung-soo sent the bat to the third baseman, Moon Sung-hyun came home and finished the game.
Gangneung High School ace Yuk Cheong-myeong and Cho Dae-hyun could not come out due to poor physical condition and pitch limit, but freshman Park Ji-hoon pitched 100 pitches in his high school baseball debut, throwing 6 hits in 7 innings, striking out 3 and allowing 2 runs (1 earned run). However, the victory requirement was blown away by the team’s come-from-behind defeat.
