After 10 years of turning around… Lively from Samsung, thrilled with ‘ML call-up’ in Cincinnati

Right-handed pitcher Ben Lively (31), who played for the KBO League Samsung Lions from 2019 to 2021, was called up to the major leagues.

On the 10th (Korean time), the Cincinnati Reds placed pitcher Laver San Martin on the injured list after suffering a stress reaction in his left elbow while handling pitcher Luis Cesa for DFA.

In the absence of the two players, pitchers Kevin Huggett and Lively from the Triple-A Louisville Bats were called up. Lively returned to the major leagues in four years since his time with the Kansas City Royals in 2019.

Lively threw 27 innings in 5 Triple A games (4 starts) this year and pitched well with 4 wins, an undefeated ERA of 2.33 and 16 strikeouts. The chance came to Lively as Sesa, who collapsed with an average ERA of 9.00 in 7 games (26 innings) 1 win 4 losses, became DFA.

Cincinnati has a vacant starting rotation against the New York Mets on the 12th, and Lively is likely to enter this position. He was originally scheduled to start at Triple-A Louisville on the 10th, but was canceled due to a call-up.  안전놀이터
